Riot Jazz Brass Band hail from the grimy protoplasm of Manchester’s prolific creative scene. Since 2008, they have been spreading unconditional love and irresistible energy across the nation and continent.
The 9-strong troupe is comprised of three trumpets, three trombones, drums, sousaphone, and fronted by the prodigious MC Chunky. The sheer enjoyment and passion which emanates from these musicians as they party on stage is as infectious as it is inspiring.
Be prepared for a unique, genre-bending exhibition of exhilarating music fit for any occasion, guaranteed to have even the most stoic audience member on their feet and dancing like no-one is watching.
Their original material knows no bounds; drawing from jazz, hip-hop, drum’n’bass, Balkan, trap, grime, dubstep, Latin, classical, they write and play whatever their collectively large heart desires. And the same goes for covers, which range from Britney to Bon Jovi, Shaggy to Blink 182.
This astonishing versatility and insatiable hunger to explore all corners of the musical spectrum has led to collaborations with a wide variety of artists, such as London Elektricity, Swindle, Plan B, and Skinnyman.
Highlights from their career so far include Glastonbury West Holts, WOMAD, Jazz Sous Les Pommiers, Love Supreme, and Canary Wharf Jazz Festival.

Welcome!
I’m looking for a trumpet to exercise. My name is Jakub Nowicki, I live in Poland. I’m starting to learn to play,
but I can not afford to buy the instrument.
I thought that maybe you have some unnecessary item on which I could start playing. I would be very grateful.
I cordially greet.
Jakub Nowicki
Dear Jakub!
Many thanks for your message, it’s always great to hear from our fans in Poland! Sorry to hear you’re struggling to get hold of kit – but no instrument is unnecessary! I’m afraid we haven’t got anything we can spare at the moment but I was in a similar situation a few years ago and got to borrow a trombone from a music school – so ask around at music schools and anyone you know who’s got the instrument you want if you can borrow or come play theirs.
Don’t give up, keep on keepin’ on and stay jazzy.
All the best from Riot Jazz HQ.
Saw your gig in Preston yesterday – I thought you were excellent. Good fun and good musicians. A great set. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to your album.
Hello, saw you guys at Glastonbury and loved your set! was wondering if you are going to be performing at any smaller private venues? Would love to come and support you again x
Hi Naomi!
We had a blast at Glastonbury – good to hear you did too!
The Riot Jazz Brass Band will be popping up here, there and everywhere and venues both big and small… The next Riot Jazz event is 27th Sep at the awesome Antwerp Mansion in Manchester. Have a look at the facebook page for updates on when the boys might be rolling into a place near you!
All the best,
Axel
Just wanted to say, I love your album. I’m a tuba/sousa player myself, and the group I’m in is having a blast playing “Sousamaphone.” Y’all rock!
Hi! Saw you in Craiova, Romania a couple of days ago. Fantastic music!
